S3 mini: Why does the voice recorder only record and play the left channel?

S3 mini: Voice Recorder only records and plays left channel

I accidentally yanked out my headphone jack and this may well have damaged the input jack on my phone. I now only get sound out of my left headphone.
But then also discovered that the Voice Recorder was also only recording through the left channel.
(I tested it by recording and then transferring a Voice Recorder file to my computer. Video apparently records sound through both channels - tested the same way).

I assume it is a hardware issue and i need to get a replacement part, but will the problem be solved by replacing just the input jack section?

Welcome to Android Central! Assuming that you're not having problems with people hearing you on a call, then I would suspect the secondary mic was damaged as well when you yanked out the jack. The secondary mic is usually right near the jack, and is used for noise cancellation on calls and stereo recording.
