s3 vs s3lte battery

i'm going to move back to android from apple and am going to an s3 . a lad at work has an s3 and his battery life seems to be better than my 4s which is great so far so good . by question relates to the battery on the lte , i'm going for a low monthly cost and paying upfront for the phone and the s3 and the s3lte have the same price so my main choice is to go for the lte on a 3g plan( no 4g in my area but future proofing for when we do get it ) and the extra 1gig ram is always handy, however i have read that the lte battery life is not as good due to the 4g network etc etc but i cant find anything about the lte not using 4g and only using 3g and how this will affect the battery if not using or searching for a 4g network , is this possible to turn off 4g and thus save battery.

Not sure if you can turn just the 4G itself off, but in terms of battery life the lte version will be worse and probably will die a couple hours less than the 3G one. If you use your phone alot and need it charged throughout the wholevday then the 4G one wont last im afraid

Think they have same battery mate so although you dont have 4g yet, id say the extra gb will use a bit more juice.
Id get it though!
