S4 costs more than iPhone 5 to build

WTF?? I do that all the time on my iPhone. You cant do that on CDMA carriers its not Apples fault.

It is Apples fault. See the article I linked.

Well hustleman still isn't exactly right is he? I do it all the time with my GSM iPhone 5.

I assumed he was talking about the CDMA iPhone since he mentioned the Thunderbolt.

Regardless, I was just trying to provide some accurate information about LTE, it's capabilities, and how different manufacturers implement it in their devices.

Lol the comments on that article made me happy... happy to not be one of those people. Our ignorant statements about "build quality", etc. are WAY more sophisticated...

Seriously though, here's the thing... OF COURSE IT COSTS MORE!!! It's more than 3x the device! WAY better processor, NFC, double the RAM, almost double the battery capacity, way bigger screen with much higher pixel density... everything about this thing is more expensive. The fact that it's not 2-3x the cost is actually lending credibility to the engineers of this thing.

If we're going to compare the iPhone 5 to something, lets compare it to a dual core, 1GM RAM, 1440mAH battery with no NFC, no removable parts and a smaller (in size and pixel density) screen. Say, the Galaxy Nexus? Very similar processor, same RAM, 1850mAH battery, (does have NFC, but oh well). Much bigger screen but 316ppi instead of 326, so close there.... oh what? It sold off contract for $400, compared to $750 for Apple. For $350 less, you get much better software, a larger battery, NFC, a larger screen and no ridiculous home button.

Obviously the mainstream hipsters disagree, but the cost-benefit of the iPhone 5 seems to be approximately 40% of what Samsung made 2 years ago, yet it costs them almost as much to make that 2 year old tech as it does for Sammy to make the S4, which is arguably triple the value.
I honestly wish I could think of something to add to this, but I can't.

Then he should mention that shouldn't he? my country ONLY has GSM carriers.
I never hear that complaint in my country.

I agreed to argue about this with Chetan today, but I'm getting caught up in some other stuff so it might have to wait. Nexus.

Well reading that article, it would have been nice for Sammy to spend the extra $8 per processor for us to get the octacore. Then we will stop fighting over GS4 vs One

It isn't an octacore. It is two quad cores that cannot run simultaneously.

I understand. But it does have advantages in power vs battery life doesn't it?

It is an Octacore, it DOES have 8 cores. They just don't run all at once, but there are 8 cores.

8= octa

They are marketing it as having 8 cores being able to simultaneous run together

And here i thought you were being mature:P
They aren't lacking in hardware just Software. Use an iphone and after noticing how smooth it is you can realise that specs don't equate to better performance.

Besides Apples A6 is using ARM's A15 architechture which has been proven to destroy A9 based quad core processor.

Don't forget matt, about the iOS revamp.
Oh and dont worry I'll keep BB away from you;)

Okay only going to say one thing. If Apple used the same updated hardware as Android flagship phones and caught up on the software design and features then they would probably be way ahead because if you think about it back when they were pretty much even in ice cream hampster and gingerbread everyone gave the edge to the iPhone because it was cooler or whatever. Only the fact that they are so far behind is what makes people willing to debate which is better seriously and give android credibility but few are willing to admit how far the difference is now. When I say I want apple to do something epic it is because I want them to pull ahead and not just catch up. I want to go back to Android needing to push ahead rather than just muddle along with incremental updates to popular features. Right now I don't think anything is close to 4.2.2. Just my opinion.

What's on the inside of the phone, or how much it costs, or how many different features the phone claims to have mean nothing to me. It is user experience that matters.

That's perfectly fine I mean that's opinion.
