S4 keeps freezing on me when I need it!!!!

My S4 keeps freezing on me when I need it. The freezing only occurs when I shut off the screen, then turn it back on, and attempt to unlock it. Unlocking becomes impossible no matter what I do. I then have to restart the phone...

I'm sure this is a common problem. Any solutions?

I wouldn't say common (or I haven't heard of it). Did you install anything new recently?

That's a common problem only if your phone is defective. Contact your service provider and notify them of the issue. Request they exchange the phone with a new one.

Exchange it. This is not a common problem, sorry to hear about your bad experience.
