s4 mini locked to vodafone

Hi everyone

My dad has bought a galaxy s4 mini model number GT-I9195 running on kit kat 4.4.2 but it's locked to vodafone I think? I've placed a virgin sim in it and in the status page I get the following

Network virgin
Mobile network type unknown
Mobile network state disconnected

Does this mean it's locked if so how can I unlock it?

If it asks for an unlock code it's locked. If it doesn't ask for an unlock code it's not locked. It looks as if the SIM isn't registering to the network. If you're using it in the UK, bring it in to Virgin Mobile and see if they can get it working. If you're trying to use it in the US, Virgin uses Sprint towers, which use CDMA technology, and the 9195 is a GSM phone, so it won't work.
