S4 Mini phone screen totally black and non responsive

My phone is an S4 Mini and recently it has been restarting itself with no warning. Today I was using it to browse stories on the internet and a popup came up. I tried to click the X and the screen froze. I tried to restart and nothing happened. Then, the phone went off all by itself and will not come back on. I have tried all the combinations of holding buttons down (vol up plus home and power, vol down plus home and power, power for over a minute, home and power etc) and have also taken the battery off and on, cleaned the gold connectors and tried doing all of these things with it not plugged in and doing the button presses with both plugged in and not plugged in. When plugged in the phone does not register being plugged in at all. Any tips or tricks that don't involve unscrewing the phone or, as may happen soon, me throwing it into the wall? Thanks!

PS my phone was not poorly charged either when this happened, it had a good 80% on it, but it DID do an update thingy Thursday night (it is now Saturday)

Do you notice the battery draining faster than normal? It sounds like a battery problem. I'd suggest replacing the battery and checking if that fixes the problem. If not, consider a factory reset to see if it's software related.
