S4 & Smart Lock

I have the Galaxy S4 and have set up the phone as a trusted device with my cars Bluetooth. However the phone still locks itself when I am in the car and prevents me from using my cars telephone system until I unlock my S4. Has anyone encountered this before? Anyone have a fix? Suggestions? Is there a way to stop the phone from locking itself? TIA

Just to be sure--go to Settings>Security>Trust Agents​. Is Smart Lock turned on?

Smart Lock (Google) is turned on. Should there be something else there?

No, that's all that should be turned on. Does the phone remember the car's Bluetooth connection, or do you have to re-connect it every time?

Yes, the BT connects automatically and the BT as a Trusted Device shows as connected.

Does the phone have any sort of lock feature that prevents you from using it while driving?

Yes, my S4 locks automatically which prevents me from using the BT in the car. When the S4 locks, the car phone system tells me there is an error & to check my phone. I couldn't find a way to stop it from auto locking, the only thing I found was to add it as a the trusted device. I have even tried making sure that they phone is unlocked when I get in my car, which works, until it auto locks and I am not able to dial out from my car keypad.

What I'm trying to determine is if the phone has some sort of Driving Mode that locks the phone if it assumes you're driving (or if you've turned on the Driving Mode). I don't have Driving mode. I do have a hands free mode but that is turned off

You could try Delayed Lock, which I think was mentioned in one of those links.
