S5 Active internal glass crack

Hello,

I have a new S5 active with an internal glass crack that runs the length of the screen. I took it back to the ATT store and they said return it to Samsung. I took it to the Samsung desk at Best Buy just for curiosity sake. They told me that it's an internal crack and that it's a manufacturing defect.
Has anyone else seen or heard of this happening?

No, but I read somewhere, I think on the forums, of a waterproofed phone owner (not a Samsung) whose screen shattered by itself, possibly due to the strong waterproof adhesives continuing to cure and setting up stresses in the glass. I raised the subject in the appropriate forum but it aroused almost no interest so I guess it's a rare occurrence.

The phone is only 3 weeks old. It has been in my car and my pocket. No damage that I can see to indicate that it was dropped.
