S5 or S6? can't decide....

Go buy the biggest bestest latest greatest tv you can find & afford for the home. Then you can tell the wife & son that you have to wait a few months to update the phones. At that point, the S5 should have some steep discounts going for it &/or you will know how the S6 is performance wise in the real world. I am only joking, but the latter is what I am doing(skipping the tv purchase). Unless my current phone fails to fire up any given morning, am going to try to wait until June time frame to see how things look.

The thing that concerns me on the S5 is that if you buy today & are the sort that keeps things long term(like me), you essentially may still be paying for them when the S8 is rolling out? Also there were some posts about an S6 Active with a much larger battery, which would assume more info would be available in 60 days or so.

For domestic tranquility, at get the GS6 for you and your wife. Rugged case on GS5 for your son. Excluding the three major hot button issues, as you can see from some of the reviews and videos, the GS6 brings improved performance and features not found on the GS5. Battery should not be much an issue as more reviews are indicating same with retail units being used. You have as others have mentioned power banks that are small and convenient to keep in a backpack or purse. You also have rapid charging as well dual wireless charging standards already built in thus not requiring purchase of a new back cover accessory. When you are out and about, say at Starbucks, just throw it in the charging pad and top it off.

Not happy about the fact that the S6 has no replaceable battery. Completely 180'd my decision to get one. Actually three.....one to replace my S4, one to replace my wife's S3, and one for my 11 year old son who will be getting his 1st phone.

Do I get three S5s instead and wait for Samsung to come to their senses on their next Galaxy? I will be switching over to Verizon's Edge program as well in order to eat the costs of three new phones.

I'll be happy to sell you my S5 in mint condition as soon as Friday comes. S5 is a nice enough phone, but it really can't hold a candle to the S6. But if you want that battery/storage/waterproof then the S5 it must be.

Like some others have said, the S5 may be better for your 11 year old since it's a little more rugged and durable. But since you're going on the Edge plan, you're barely saving any money by getting the S5 instead of the S6. If you're going to get him the S5, I'd give it a month or two and see if the price drops. After the S6 is official, I'd imagine they would be reducing the price significantly basically just to get rid of them. You can let him use the S4 until then.

Or if your 11 year old is of the rare trustworthy and careful kind, then go ahead and get him an S6.

A Samsung S5 for your 11 year old son? Really? I would not recommend doing edge with your son. If he breaks that thing you guys are screwed. However, if that were me that kid is waiting to get a smartphone for a few more years

You can also carry an external battery pack for those full long days at disney world and let it charge in your back pack for an hour or so.
