S5 Sound Suddenly Stopped Working

While watching Craftsy videos sound began to distort and cut out and then finally ceased. Cleared cache, removed battery for 30 minutes and restarted, all to no avail. Performed system recovery and still nothing. Removed Sim card and when I re-started it withoutthecard, the sound returned for just a few seconds and then creased once again. Phone is 2 months old, never been wet, never dropped or damaged in any other way. A million thanks to anyone who can help solve this frustrating dilemma, without exchanging the phone.

w/o the SIM card the phone will only be able to use Wifi
