S6 Annoyances

Download Zedge. It's free and it has several wallpapers that can be used in a professional setting. Don't waste your time with Samsung's themes, they all appear to be non-professional in nature, i.e. the Avengers, etc.

there is a menu for the default vibration notification pattern ... but there is no menu or option to set either a unique message notification sound or vibration per contact or contact group. That may be something they removed on purpose, or something they "forgot" ... I dont know. Seems to me its a combo of possible bugs and features/settings that were removed on purpose, but that should have been left in there.

Only time will tell.

There is a very easy fix for that. Download Zedge or any other app that provides ringtones and notifications - there are tons of free apps on Google Play. Zedge and most other apps will allow you to set custom ring tones and notification tones for just about anything you want. Your email, your different contacts, specific apps, just about anything. You may have to go to the "Settings" menu and then click the contact or the app that you want to have it's own ringtone, but it's not too complicated.

You have to use a third person app like Zedge for some notification ringtones because Samsung / Android for whatever reason did not include the controls in the Settings Menus. that being said, Zedge and other apps I have tried work flawlessly and are easy to use - and they are free.

The battery life is driving me nuts on this phone. Especially coming from the iPhone six plus. It is incredible to just sit there and watch it drain in 4-5 hours of on screen time even with all the settings changed. It got to the point where I got so fed up I reset the device, put the black picture as my wallpaper and lock screen, set Nova launcher. I am so over it. Thank goodness I still have my iPhone six plus too

The Lollipop 5.1 update that is coming in June is supposed to address the battery drain issue. Also the Android M OS coming out in a few months will certainly address this and other bugs.

That's debatable, the iPhone doesn't have the same number of issues

It definitely has its own issues. I used a 6+ for a few months .. there are definitely issues / inconveniences for using it. No phone is perfect.

As a famous movie character once said, "I like your thinkin' ".

I have a 6+ and I can name several:

If I activate the flashlight from the lock screen, it will frequently lock up my phone so the only way to do anything is to force a reboot.

Safari will crash nearly every time when I turn the phone to landscape

Pages reload on many graphics heavy pages. It will say Safari has encountered an error and needs to reload.

No keyboard sometimes when trying to do a Spotlight search. That is the most frustrating thing to me.

It's far from perfect.

Hello. I managed to find option to change unique message notification sound and unique vibration per contact, also there is option to change groups ringtone but no sms sound to group.

When you are editing contact you have to add field in the bottom and from there you have the option to add sms sound field.

First time posting here and a happy S6 user.
Sorry if this wasn't the thing you were looking for.

THANK YOU!!! I didn't ever consider that the "add a field" may have notification options. This is at least a start in the right direction.

My fingerprint scanner is not working reliably again. It seems I have to re-add my finger prints every week or so.

This. Both have issues, lets stop being unrealistic and believe either platform is free of bugs/flaws. Publicity wise, every single iOS9 article usually states "iOS9 will fix all the frusterations/issues with iOS8", as much as Android M will hopefully fix a lot of Lollipop problems. Even with how amazingly optimized iPhone/iOS are, there will always be problems with changes to the framework...its expected. The biggest advantage iOS has over Android is App support.

Interesting...when it launched it was iffy but a month later, solid...as good as on iPhone 5S. Recommendation is to use only a single fingerprint scanner for each finger (i used to use 2 for each thumb, but it just made the unlocking much slower) and when calibrating make sure you move your finger and scan all different angles.

That IS a big advantage in a way ... but if I had to put my money down, I'd say the biggest advantage is the combination of limited hardware units + Apple's strict app processing before putting on their app store.

Think about it ... at a given time, there are really only a couple/few different pieces of hardware that the OS and Apps have to support. But with Android, I can't even start to count the number of different mfg's and styles of phones there are, much less how many different features / builds of hardware that go into each one.

It MUST be easier to write an OS and/or App that only has to work on 2, maybe 3 different sets of hardware, that are all very much alike. That alone should result is more stable systems and apps ... as well as making it much more appealing for an app developer to work on when they don't have to have a gazillion contingencies built into their app to accommodate all the different mfgs of android phones, much less the diversity of devices within each mfg's lineup.

Loving my S6 it's amazing, but these 6 thing's are annoying.

Battery
Touchwizz
Camera hump
External speaker
Back button should be on the left
Should have shipped with USB C

dreaming of electric sheep

"Dreaming of electric sheep"? Lol nice one

It amazes me when people in America talk about a 14 day return period. Here if you sign a contract with a phone and you don't like it you are stuck with it full stop end of story for the next two years

For those on two year contracts, you are still signing a contract. The 14 return policy covers off buyers remorse and facilitates exchanges of the devices. If we want out of the contract, we have to pay an onerous early termination fee (ETF).

Yeah but we don't have that here. I told my company I wanted to exchange my phone for the note 4 and they told me that because I had signed up to the contract with the S6 I could not exchange it for the entirety of the contract

No unlocked, unbranded model sold directly via Samsung or partners instead we are stuck with ugly useless carrier crap models.
