S6 Edge Accelerometer Issues

Good morning everyone.

I've done a bunch of reading on these devices and I know the safe bet is to go with the plain S6, however I really had my heart set on the Edge. After a bunch of digging around it seems like the accelerometer issues were with a bad batch of chips. Does anyone have any idea what batch of phones were affected by this issue? Is there any way to tell before I buy one if the phone is affected by serial number?

The update seems to have fixed all that.I am on my second unit now and before I had my new one the update came out and the rotation issue was fixed.

But from what I've read the update is only a software fix/workaround for the actual hardware issue. Is this correct?

I haven't seen any info regarding a specific batch. The new update just masks a bad accelerometer. This thread covers everything:
