So it's 1:30 CST and I just got a notification that my S6 Edge (AT&T) just downloaded an update. It didn't show me the size of the download but it is 56% installed now.

Could this be the long awaited 5.1 or 5.1.1 update AT&T users have been looking for? I'll post again once installed and running.....Stay tuned! #fingerscrossed

I was hoping it was 5.1.1 also. But it wasn't. I don't understand it. T-Mobile and Sprint got that update over a month ago. By the time the update comes 5.2 will be here. I should have just got a Nexus

That's the way it is and the way it has always been on the Android world. Until Samsung and others Android Manufacturers don't take matters on their hands and force carriers to stop adding bloatware and modifying their software, this will keep happening, sad thing is that I don't think that will change, at least not anytime soon. Apple is the only company that have played their cards and Carriers do what they say, not the other way around.

But yes, you and everybody else are right, there is no excuse why the 2 largest US carriers are behind the "Smallest" ones, and by that much, they should have more resources to be able to do this as soon as Samsung releases the official software and even at the same time, just like T-Mobile has done for the past couple of Software updates.

Like in any market, buyers are the ones that should dictate the rules, when people begin to talk not with words but with their wallets, things can change, but while we just keep complaining here or even call them but then keep buying from them, we are just enforcing them to keep doing the same and they don't feel the pressure to do changes.

Amazing how AT&T can release a patch that quickly but cannot release 5.1.1 to a flagship device. With the release soon of the S6 + would this be the first phone to lose its top spot BEFORE it even got it's first update?

T-mobile's came out 7/25.

I got this same update, was supposed to be stage fright fix. But, has anyone else had a MAJOR battery life increase after this update?
I have. my device would use 40% battery over night while I was sleeping, not even touching it.
Now it uses 3% over night.

At the end of the work day I would get home with 25-30% battery left. Now, I get home with 60% left.
My battery has doubled since this update.

My battery has always been great but I attribute it to the app greenify. Highly suggest!

I haven't put greenify on my S6E yet but probably will. I have it on my N4 and only hibernate things overnight, except for rare cases. I charge my N4 right before bed, unplug it and hibernate and when I get up I have either 99% or 100% battery left.

I have a more difficult time with my S6E and battery though than I did with my N4. I haven't gone through yet and tweaked anything yet though with my S6E, I've only had it for a few days. It is a little hard for me to get used to, but my last 4 phones have all been Note series.

I haven't even looked at wake locks yet on my S6, but after doing that I might install greenify and use it during the day. I only used it during the day on my N4 if I knew that I was going to be using it a lot all day and not be around a place to charge until I went to bed that night or even the next day.

Well Verizon just got the update. At&t is now officially the only carrier that doesn't have Android 5.1.1 on the S6
