S6 Edge not recognized on MacBook Pro

The question is, "who installed the smart switch drivers on the mac?" I think its sidesync who made the problem for ATF.

I registered for this site for the sole purpose of providing a tested and explanative solution to others who have had the same frustration I have had for over a year. I don't want anyone else to have to curse at their $3000 worth of equipment in the same manner that I have.

Verdict:

The inconsistent experiences seem to stem from the reality that two legitimate problems exist. These 2 problems can potentially compound with one another between AFT and OS X. They are:

1) conflicting program file remnants from KIES and it's compatriots
2) an apparent problem with the OEM fast-charging cables (which naturally many of us would use)

Since one or both of those can cause the issue, we're seeing people achieve success by following a different series of steps. In my case, both were legitimately at fault. Some folks have tried removing all sorts of programs or individual files, claiming that a specific act of deletion was the savior, unaware that their inadvertent cable change could have actually been the variable.

To be clear, KIES is a problem. I reinstalled KIES after I discovered the issue with my cable, just to be sure that the program was a real problem, and AFT went into limp mode again.

Another potential issue is that I could actually get my OEM cable to work unreliably, if repeatedly plugged and unplugged numerous times, somehow tricking the system momentarily - I'm not scientifically sure what the issue is, but it apparently has something to do with the physical parameters of the cable.

Ultimately though, I'm pretty confident that heeding the advice of the majority voted solutions, is the best course of action.

I would suggest:
  • Removing KIES and/or Smartsync
  • Change to any micro-usb cable other than the white fast-charging cable that came with your phone.
  • As a final step (and after trying the above 2) track down any problem files identified in this thread and renaming them by adding a ".null" at the end, instead of deleting them (this is safer; if you break something you can undo it)

Cheers!:)
