S6 or G4?

I think this is the nicest Galaxy to date but I can't wait to get the G4 into my hands!

I have only spent a few hours with the G4 and its nice (forget the plastic build) it feels great in hand and unlike the creakyness of the G3 that has gone.

Im liking it so far and looking forward to testing further :-)

walked in to best buy to see the phone hoping they had one. They did...and once I held the phone in the hands, I paid the deposit and pre-ordered the phone. Seriously....I haven't held a phone that felt so good. I guess my S6 Edge will be on sale...

Now just crossing my fingers that G4 won't have all the mishaps I had with the S6 in the beginning...

Rd_nest, if you love your GS6 why are you here?

Anyone with half a brain knows that real world usage and battery drain tests do not always equal. (no one but kids watch movies all day on a phone). Considering pretty much every reviewer who's used both for an extended amount of time as their daily device has said the G4 has a better battery, I don't care what in lab testing shows.

So, GSMArena/PhoneArena/Tweaker are not reviewers.. There are here just for LOLs

C'mon. What's the odds of both Phil and Andrew using broken phones? Are many of us with poor battery life results using broken phones? Odds are no, no we're not. The fault is on Samsung's end on this one. The people who are saying they're getting 5-6 hours SOT on their S6's are liars.

Right, and you are the only Gandhi around here..

In Thailand they are only selling the 32gb S6. I was considering an S6 due to a great camera, trimmed back software, and the smaller form factor... but 32gb? No 64 or 128? That's a total deal breaker.

So I guess I am upgrading from my G3 to a G4.

One question. Does anyone have feedback on using the S6 finger print scanner when having sweaty hands? After exercising for example. Also, how do the touch screens perform under these conditions? My G3 was hit and miss and not impressive at all.

The fingerprint on the S6 & Edge work flawlessly as does the screen in my experience.

However as storage is important to you i would opt for the G4.

This phone has so many strong points and few negatives.

The only negative for me and its so trivial and not an issue but the design is similar to that of the G3.

However the weaknesses of the G3 are not present on the G4.

I have the G4 as well ,it's still to early to give an accurate battery life/sot for me.
I have only gone tho one battery cycle, and one full day of use after setting it up.
:)
But looking good
I like the buttons on the back better then I thought I would, does take getting use to though.
Size wise, it fits good in my hand.
I like the Knock Code and using it.
I'm actually still using the stock launcher.

S6 / S6E all the way.. There is no freaking way you will get better batterylife from G4, unless you have a lemon or don't know how to use a phone. Therer is no debate, it's marked on stone that G4 has much worse battery life.

Now before everyone jumps on me and declares me as a troll, read the following properly before you comment.

For movies, the difference is like double.. LOL
WTF LG was thinking?? Are they freaking serious? They should orice the phone half of what S6 is selling :D

But I know, most will say that's just one site. Right?

Ohh, PhoneArena must be paid by Samsung. So obviously they must be out there destroying the image of LG.

Note: GSMArena tests batterylife at 50% brightness.
G4 (at 50% brightness) - 108nits
S6 (at 50% brightness) - 208nits

Meaning S6 is much brighter than G4 at 50% brightness, level at which GSMArena tested the phones. Imagin at equal brightness, the difference will be much higher in favour of S6.

And this is the result with a much faster processor. With a much slower processor, the G4 was supposed to give much better numbers.

Real world usage VS lab testing usage.

Real world always wins so your comment is invalid.

You know, I wonder if the lab tests were the other way around if it would dissuade people from buying the S6?!....something to think about.

So true...like so many others, my S6 gives me 2.5-3.5 SoT. I've had it for 2 months now. Phil and the AC guys obviously had the same as do so many of the articles on the S6. The testing doesn't account for the massive standby battery drain that the S6 has and gives it artificial (i.e. not 'real usage') scenarios. I know what a good battery is and it's not the S6.

G4 is looking really interesting to me if it can give me a solid day of battery life with a little bit of cushion. Can't wait to hear what some of the early adopters have to say!

Exactly.

Well If the G4 provides the same or even better battery life than the G3, you're on to a winner.

I get a full day easily on my G3.

oh really now? calling people you don't know liars? I quite frequently squeeze 5 hours SOT out of my S6. Not here to troll as I'm looking into getting a G4 also but to call everyone who is posting SOT screenshots with 5+ hours a liar is ridiculous.

The standby drain is what is driving me nuts. It is so inconsistent. I'm in the same area almost every day and evening. Some days in my office the standby will be great, some days it's horrible. Same at home. It is entirely random. I can pop my sim in my 6+ and pretty much know I'm going to get great standby no matter where I'm at. I'm holding out hope that 5.1.1 helps, but I'm going to get a G4 and run it through its paces and make a decision. I loved both the G2 and G3 so I am excited to get my G4.

Add me to the list. I get 5 to 6 hours SOT everyday with my s6 edge. Believe it or not, I don't care.

Standby time on the G3 and G4 are ridiculously good! Something LG has done well with.

Judging by the replies, it seems that the S6 has some optimization issues. Nothing a couple apps and root can't fix though. I'd probably get the G4 myself over the S6 just due to the fundamentals LG still follows.

Agreed 100%. Standby is way more important for battery life than SoT and my S6 drains like mad in idle most days, but sometimes it's great without explanation. Just strange!

Really glad to hear the G3 & G4 sip battery in idle!
