S7 Battery life SOT

I am getting a touch over 5 hours SOT. I'm satisfied with that. My usage today has been browsing the web, playing music, mobile hot spot for about an hour, a little Boom Beach, and about 40 pictures with the camera. I also used Facebook Messenger for about an hour, and a few other apps for a short period of time.

I have both and the edge drains slightly slower than the S7. Saying that can easily get 36 hours out of both of them with my typical useage.

Hi, That is amazing battery life! I can hardly get 3-3.5 hours of SOT! I have an international exynos unlocked version. Is something wrong? I am on 3G the whole time. Usage includes browsing, calling, youtube, social media etc.

Oh wow thats really good. What carrier? And is that SD or exynos?

My carrier is AT&T, as to the processor, I can't say for sure. Is there a way to tell? I know some of these are made in different places, mine was made in Korea.

If Android System is showing first in battery usage then it is Snapdragon, if screen first it is exynos. Got that info from xda. 5 hours of sot with at&t is good actually.

How many battery life threads do we need?

I'd love to know if people getting more than 4-5hrs of SOT have the brightness set to 1%, nothing pushing updates, and nothing intensive going on all day.

On an average day taking a few photos, maybe a video or two, checking email (set to push), Facebook(set to manual), Twitter, few YouTube videos, Web browsing, and an hours worth of calls I average 4.3% battery drain per hour on Wifi. I tested it out on the town taking photos at an event and I still managed to make it a full day but no more than 4.5 hrs SOT.

Make it so.

My screen brightness is set to 50%. It edged downward automatically at night, not sure how low it goes, maybe down to 45%?

Weirdly, I have the regular s7 and for some reason my battery varies wildly. If I have power saver on and not moving locations constantly I get up to 6 and a half hours of on screen time, if I move a lot I get about 4 hours tops. Without power saver on I get about 4 and a half hours and 2 and a half hours respectively for not changing locations and changing.

That is patently untrue. My tmobile Snapdragon 820 phone has been remarkable ever since that tmobile bug fix update last week.

Hmm you are right.. No I have to really think if I should jump to s7 and sell my edge.

Are you on T-Mobile? I know that the April update had battery life as one of the improvements. Before the update, Android System was always the main culprit (like you originally said). I'm just wondering whether an S7 Edge update came out as well for T-Mobile.

Unfortunatel I have the at&t.

I haven't remotely come close to 5 hrs SOT. I've had the phone for just over 1 week, bought 1 for me & wifey part of Verizon buy 1 get 1 free promo. Upgraded from my AT&T S3 and her S4. 1st day barely better than S3, under 2 hrs, almost all time on WiFi. 2nd day much better, about 4hrs and that was going from 100% down to about 7%.Facebook,G+,Flipboard,CoC mostly. Since then it's been about 3hrs roughly with the phone idle most of the time. Hope it gets better because 3hrs SOT on this phone is quite disappointing even with brightness @ 50%.

I'm gonna just play Devils advocate here since I went through this very same dilemma.

Here is battery on my 820 Edge :)
