Hello!
So after a week of using Android Pay without problems, I recently ran into an issue where I would get the following error when I tried to use it:
"Android Pay cannot be used" followed by "Google is unable to verify that your device or the software running on it is Android compatible".
This is normally an error message that is associated with using Rooted phones or custom images. My Verizon S7 Edge has neither - completely stock, although I have disabled some bloatware apps. I haven't disabled anything between the time it was working and the time it wasn't working.
I also downloaded an app to test the SafetyNet status of my device. It fails everytime saying that the CTS Profile does not match.
I have so far uninstalled the Google Play Services and Android Pay updates and reupdated them. I have wiped the phones cache. I have not done a full factory reset yet as I would prefer to not lose my data until that becomes the only option.
Has anyone else run into this issue?
EDIT: I solved the issue after a lengthy amount of google searching. I eventually found a post where using ADB to modify the DPI settings on another device caused Android Pay/SafetyNet to break. I haven't done anything with ADB, but I did make use of a recently posted "tweak" that allows you to change the DPI on your Galaxy S7 device. The tweak involves using a Settings Activity in the Nova Launcher Activies Widget to change your DPI to Condensed. Everyone indicated that this was just a hidden setting and multiple users on these forums explicitly stated that it would not break Android Pay. Well....
The tweak detailed (using Nova Launcher) completely broke my Android Pay and my SafetyNet functionality on my device in the same manor as the ADB tweak. I have yet to find anyone else to make this link, but hopefully this post eventually helps someone.
In summary: if you have used the Nova Launcher tweak to change your DPI to condensed and are having Android Pay issues, you need to undo it.
This occurred on my Version S7 Edge.
