S7 Edge Purple Haze/Flare Problem

Very happy with the image quality until I photographed a recent night-time, candle-lit event.
Every image taken where the candles were near the edge or corner of the frame resulted in a purple haze/flare emanating from the candles.

The phone was purchased in Thailand, so I guess it's the global model.
I was using the Auto mode, no flash.

Is there any way to prevent this, or at least easily fix it in post processing?
I couldn't find any other reports of the same problem from S7 owners.
Maybe I have a defective camera?

I get that on my note 4 and previously on my m9. Actually happens most when there is oil/fingerprints on the lens. When I think to wipe it off first, it's clear, when I don't what you have is sort of the same effect.

To some extent flare from bright, high contrast light sources near the edge of the frame is inevitable, especially at the wide end of the zoom range. But ratsttam is right that any dirt on the lens will make it worse.
