Thanks. It only worked when I restarted the computer and tried that(holding the volume up , home and power button at the same time.)

So far it's not bad. The text anti-aliasing is sharper but the fonts are smaller and narrower. The update turns off energy-saving by default so you have to go into settings and turn it back on or your battery usage goes up. Some of the menu changes I could do without (eg screen brightness should be one-swipe away, not two.) So far seems to be stable.

You can tap on the down arrow next to the brightness slider and put it back in top.
