Android Central Question

My phone froze whilst I was playing a game today. I thought I knew how to boot into safemode but held down "power, home, and volume down" keys instead of holding "power" past the first screen and "volume up" at the second.

Now all I can do with the phone is keep booting up the blue screen. Each time the spinning arrows on the droids chest rotate for about two or three seconds before stopping the spinning animation and presumably locking up again.

The phone is getting warm. I thought I should just let it run out of battery. Is it shagged? Is there anything else I can do?

Welcome to Android Central! You're probably in Download Mode (aka Odin Mode), which is used to download a firmware file from a computer via USB connection. As long as you're not actively doing that, it's ok to force a shutdown from that screen -- press and hold Power and Vol Down for about 20 seconds to do it. Now try powering back on normally. If you want to get to Recovery, though, these are the steps: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28028. It's Home, Power, and Vol Up together, not Vol Down.
