I just returned from a 4 weeks holiday (Thailand and Indonesia) and I had massive troubles with my s7.

First it worked fine but then more and more issues came up:
- Wifi wasnt connecting anymore or couldn't keep the connection
- phone froze when trying to open settings for WiFi
- virtual keyboard wouldn't pop up anymore
- phone rebooted every few minutes
- fingerprint scanner didn't work anymore

It was basically not usable anymore.

Now that I am back (in germany) everything is working perfectly again as if nothing happened.

I used my phone mostly in airplane mode during my holiday but it already seemed strange that the clock wouldn't adjust to the local time although being connected to the internet. It is not even 3 months old and running android 7.0.

Has someone experienced similar issues?

Thank you a lot.

I am currently overseas and started with the S7 with T-Mobile, I have spent a significant amount of time in over 14 counties to include Thailand and have never had a issue with it. I'm currently in Japan and am now using the s8 still no isseue at all. Curriouse to know, who was the provider and was the device up-to-date on updates

Strange indeed, all my devices work fine in foreign lands.
The time is set from the mobile network, so if you don't have that on, that could be a problem.
Generally I get a local prepaid and just use whatsap to communicate with home (WiFi of course). That avoids bill shock on my return...

I turned off airplane mode every now and then to make phonecalls or check sms but still the clock wouldn't adjust. my phone is running on Vodafone and all recent updates. I also haven't installed any new apps during my holdiay. Problems occured after two weeks and I had no issues in Thailand only on Bali things started to get worse. I haven't tried local prepaid.

I'm having the exact same problem with my s7 running android 7.0. My phone works fine out of airplane mode but as soon as I try and use WiFi in airplane mode the phone does weird things.

I'm on a 2 week vacation in California and I'm from Canada. The strangest thing is for the first couple of days everything worked perfectly and I've never encountered this problem at home.

Yes, am experiencing exactly this and it is infuriating. Fine when at home. Have googled and tried so many things: wipe cache, safe mode, hard reset.

I wonder if when you 1st set up the phone and choose country or language if that's creating a problem, I'm in California so that's a given it would work, hummmm

I'm wondering if it's to do with roaming? Am currently in the UK with UK SIM card and am having no problems. Will try with a foreign SIM card.

The problem seemed to be nothing to do with roaming. It happened when in airplane mode and switching on wifi. So far a factory reset seems to have done the trick. Will monitor as I install apps to see if it's a rogue app.

I was just in Indonesia for a month in and out of airplane mode. No problems. Mine is a at&t gs7
