Android Central Question

My S7 is only ~6 months old.

I had no issues until last week.

Randomly, my fingerprint unlock doesn't work. It doesn't do anything at all. It doesn't fail, prompt me or even jitter. Absolutely nothing happens when I hold it against the button.

So I swipe, and it says "Use fingerprint or draw unlock pattern" and still, nothing happens when I try the fingerprint scanner.

Only the unlock screen seems affected. Chase, Robinhood, Gallery vault and others all work fine with the fingerprint scanner.

From forum searches, I have tried

-Deleting my fingerprint and re-adding it
-Turning fingerprint unlock off, then back on
-Clearing the cache partition from the recovery menu
-Soft reset via the recovery menu (power down)
-Changing my lock setting to "lock immediately"
-I always use the power button to lock phone

Sometimes, it will work after the next unlock.

Other times, I have to reboot the phone and it will work again.

Should I take my phone in?

Thanks in advance

If it happens in safe mode also, it's a corrupt update. If it doesn't happen in safe mode, it's one of the apps you installed that's doing it.

It's not the fingerprint sensor or how you saved your fingerprints, it's the code that the lock screen uses that's causing the problem.

I have that same problem, it is happening from some 3 months after a monthly update when I was on nougat, but now I am on btu oreo, I flashed using odin, so no chance of corrupt update causing this issue. So can anyone tell me what is causing this now? And how to fix this?
