S7 not playing music over usb on car stereo

I had an S5 that worked perfectly with my car stereo over USB cable. My s7 edge won't play any music, although the phone and car stereo both show that a song is playing. Any suggestions? I have tried turning on USB debugging, per recommendation from ATT employee, to no avail.

Welcome to Android Central! When you connect via USB and then swipe down the notification panel, does it say it's connected as MTP/File Transfer, or is it Charge Only?
