S8 curious....

Hey folks,
Busted up my ol' s6 Active and I'm in the market for a new phone. Trying to save a little since I'm buying one outright so I'm thinking of going unlocked. I'm currently on ATT but I've read conflicting things on getting ATT VM on a S8 not purchased through the carrier.

Is it correct I can get AT&T Visual Voicemail through google play and get VM that way?
I also know android won't update very quickly on an unlocked S8, nor be able to have wifi calling but guess I can live with that.

I use unlocked phones on AT&T a lot. You can just download the AT&T Visual Voicemail app from the Play Store, it works, what you will not be able to use is WiFi Calling or VoLTE or any enhanced calling features.

Great. Thanks for the clarification. I think I'm good on not having the enhanced carrier features.

Wifi calling was nice on my ATT S6 Active while in the boonies of Canada this past summer though. It was nice calling the States from Timmy Horton's.
