So about time to trade on up from my s7.

Now I've been drooling over the s8+ since launch. (Perfect size for my hands) But black sheep in the line aside. People who got me into android always praised the note series. The thing though is the -200 MHA battery in the note. But I like the idea of dual camera on the note

Is anyone here planning to jump ship to a note or should I go with my plan for the s8+ looking for solid opinions

Compared to the S8+, the Note 8 appears to have:

As a S8+ owner I'm sticking with the S8+. But since you're coming from the S7, whether to get the Note 8 or the S8+ would more depend on if the pen and/or dual camera is enough of a draw.

I was a note guy. Said it would be the only type of phone I would ever use. I had the 1,2,3&4. The only thing I don't like about the s8+ is you cannot swap batteries. But I don't miss the pen like I thought I would and this phone is a beast. Plus with quick charge and battery tech these days battery life is not a problem.

ok thanks guys yeah I have a huge 208000 battery pack and I sit by a charger most of the day so I do my best to keep with healthy battery habits.

and thanks Hydro a user perspective was exactly what I was looking for.

software updates im MEH with cause I'm a freaking Canadian I'm lucky to get one a year haha.

I've been getting monthly security updates since I bought this S8+; sure, they're last month's security updates, but still, better than nothing. Remains to be seen if 7.1/8.0/whatever will come soon, though.

I'm on T-Mobile JOD so of course I'm going to switch from the S8+ to the Note 8 the day it launches. But if I were buying phones outright instead of leasing them, I think I'd probably wait. The Note 8 has a lot of tweaks and improvements over the S8 (if the leaks are to be believed, and I think they are). But the only substantive hardware change I see is the dual cameras which allow for optical zoom. So if I were in your position and choosing between the S8+ and Note 8, I'd be asking myself if a dual camera display is worth the $150 price difference, plus the discounts and BOGO offers on the S8+ that most carriers will most surely be offering.

It's all about the pen, if you ask me. Don't use the pen? Get an S8+ (unless dual camera turns you on). But if you make good use of the pen, there really is nothing else but the Note.

You know I've seen the specs of the new Galaxy Note 8 myself. I have a regular S8 and I am absolutely in love with an! Now coming from your Galaxy S7 it really depends on if you want these slightly bigger screen, and S Pen and the UI that goes along with the S Pen. Other than that though, Samsung really made the new note 8 and the S8 phones very similar. As for the dual camera lenses and the wide-angle shot, if you really have a need / necessity for it go for it! If not then I'm sure that Samsung is about to Discount the Galaxy S8!

I don't know if price is a consideration for you, but you can get an s8+ for around 500 right now. I'm hearing that the Note will be in the 900 range, though we don't know for sure.
