Batteries fail for several reasons, no device is immune from it. This is nothing like the note 7 issue. If it was, there would be several by now. Go enjoy your s8 phones.

Reading thru things, it appears it was a failing battery that did what it's designed to do if it fails. Note 7 burst into flames, this one did not. Looks like Samsung did a good job controlling a failing battery

I agree. I always monitor batteries that are charging and have no issues with the S8.

It’s wise to take note of such incidents.

I’m not sure on the credibility of the persons post but if they say it happened to them as described with no mitigating factors then I take that on face value.

Other than that my s8 hasn’t given me any cause for concern.
