S8 sounds better than S20?

[Android Central Question]

I've recently upgraded from the S8 to S20, and find that my Sennheiser earphones sound much better on the S8 than the S20. Why would that be, and how could I correct it?

I notice there's no 'basic' version of the equalizer on S20, but - with the advanced options set similar and AptX selected in Developer Options - the difference is uncanny. I don't have any other equalizer apps installed (of which I'm aware).
