Am I missing something or does the stock text app not offer any GIF options? I tried using Google Keyboard and it too wouldn't let me use GIF.

What gives?? I like the app and prefer not to change. Are there any workarounds?

Agreed. I came from a One plus 3T and became used to using gif's in messages. You can download and use android messages with gboard, but that doesn't solve the native app. Hopefully someone can offer some more insight.

Unfortunately, not that I know of. I love the stock Samsung messaging application as well. I just deal without the gif support. Not sure why though.

So how do you incorporate Giphy to the Samsung app? Or do you have to open a second app every time you want to send a gif?

So, do most people here use the stock Samsung messaging application, or a 3rd party application?

I like the stock app. i like it flashes the edges as a notification. I like it watches for spammers etc. I just think it's stupid that they decided that we didn't need or want GIF's. Makes zero sense.

Oh, I understand your frustrations. I love the themeing of the Samsung messaging application and the quick reply from the notification shade the most. I will also say that with the stock messaging application, i can't send more than 2 pictures in 1 MMS message for some odd reason. I have to send someone multiple MMS messages with several pictures in it.

I use Textra and it flashes the edge screen when I get a text, has gif support, is way more customizable, and also offers quick reply from notification shade, amongst many other useful features, while remaining a lightweight and fast application. Textra is, and has always been, highly recommended.

Yeah, I was thinking of Trying out Textra again.

The one other main thing that I will tell everyone here regarding the Samsung messaging application vs Textra or other 3rd party applications is that when you go into a message, click the plus sign to take a picture you want to send someone quickly bit necessarily have to you're gallery, the stock messaging app always automatically saves that picture regardless if you wanted it to or not. It's not frustrating for me. Textra or other messaging apps is different if you go into the messaging thread hit the plus sign you can directly send someone a picture without that picture being saved automatically.
