Do you think it will be an upgrade?
What are your thoughts about this move?

I would say only an upgrade if you use the pen or want dual cameras immediately. I'm not in the least bit tempted to upgrade to it.

The only pros are s-pen and dual camera, cons, smaller battery and same processor. The s9+ will be a better way to go and I'm half way through my 12 months. To me the just isn't enough of an upgrade to warranty a switch. That's hard because I'm usually a huge Note fan.

S-pen not spending.

Gotta love auto correct😂

The Note is in very few ways an upgrade over the S8, personally I wouldn't do it unless you're a past note owner and miss the pen. The dual camera is amazing, but unless you're selling the S8 to get most of your money back, it would be cheaper to buy a dedicated camera that will do much better than a phone camera can.

As a Galaxy Note 7 owner we should get upgrades through our providers for an early upgrade at no fee from Samsung what do y'all think about this?

I have my N8 pre-ordered.. I'm a fan of the S-Pen.. Owning both an N5 and an S8+, my N5 accounts for 75% of my smartphone usage, simply because of its functionality..

I initially planned to purchase the N8. But I not a big fan of the Spen or dual camera (Had dual camera with a previous LG phone and I only used if for the first month). Plus the S8+ has a bigger battery and the specs of these phones are pretty much identical (except RAM).

Nothing is really swaying me to pay an extra few hundred dollars.....

Thoughts??

I think you already know the answer, no reason to spend more on something you won't benefit from.

Looks like I'll be able to get my hands on a new Note 8.

I called Sprint and since I'm a loyal customer I can upgrade early without no fee of early upgrade. I've been with them since 2005 so leaving Sprint for T-Mobile would be something they don't want on there part. But the best thing is now the Note 8 will cost me half of the Galaxy S8 price and the Note 8 will be better in terms of longevity. One of the benefits of having bought that fireball Note 7

And hopefully no red tint... Or Bluetooth issues...

So Samsung says upto $425 so if I send them a lower end phone like a J3 I would not get full $425 offer???

Correct, the way this sounds. We will have to see how they do this, but if it's similar to that S8 promo with the trade ins with some people only getting $25 for working iphones saying they were damaged when that wasn't the case and it turned into a mess.

I personally wouldn't touch this promo. Better off trading it in in person at the carrier instead of sending it off with unknown people deciding how much the phone is worth.

Huge Note fan from using the 4 and 5 but frankly can't rationalize that amount of money right now since my S8 works beautifully. Got my S8 for $350 from samsung.com promotion... $100 off plus $300 for trade in on my S7Edge. Great deal and I look forward to seeing that same sort of promotion for the Note 8 in 3-4 months. If that's the scenario, then I'll jump on it for sure. Seriously loved the S-pen and made use of it multiple times a day.

Saki did an update today about the Note 8 and opinions switching from S8 Plus. He still thinks if you have the S8 Plus and don't really use the Spen then it's not worth upgrading to the Note 8 and paying the hefty price.

Also if you're in the market for a new phone and trying to decide between the two if you don't have a need for Spen then the S8 is better due to all the deals on it now.

I think he's right.
