Lower res screen ok

No more curved display.....how?

Etc....what exactly?
The screen is flat on the s10e, the regular s10 and s10+ still have the curve.

etc = the s10e no longer has a notification led that the s8 has. Which in my opinion on day to day use is a huge downgrade.

etc = power button is a lot higher on s10e vs S8

probably more etc but I cant think right now just woke up from a long night

Ok. Some good points and some aren't Imo. How is the curved design better? Yes the power button is higher but the S10e is shorter. If this was the 10+ you'd have a point but it isn't an issue on the 10e. Notification led is a good point.

Hello everyone I have a weird question, I'm not a fan of huge phones I was actually in the Xperia Compact zone for a while now but the prices got higher and the phones got bigger so I switched to Samsung for the Galaxy S6 and then Galaxy S8

My question is would going from a S8 to a S10 e b a upgrade or a downgrade?

I know the S10e screen resolution is a bit lower but after a factory reset recently the phone was back on 1080p and I forgot to switch to 2K for a day or two and didn't really notice until I remembered so I don't think resolution is that big of a deal (but a drop is a drop I guess)

Keep in mind I just did a warranty repair and got a brand new screen and battery for my phone and it's on the One UI beta

I buy all my phones unlocked I hate being tied to carriers so if I was to buy a S10 e it would be the full unlocked price not payment plan

Let me know what you guys think love because the phone is a bit smaller but worried about if I could get used to the hole punch and if overall is a downgrade

Hi, this is my first post here. I had the S8, and went with a direct purchase from Samsung and their 300$ buyback. I am very happy. I don't like the large phones or the curved edges, and the fact that the s10e has the same cpu and abilities as the larger (and more expensive) versions makes it fast. Camera zoom is great. UI is great. The smart switch app worked perfectly. I can set the Bixby button to require 2 presses for activation. I need to learn more about Bixby, but it seems like this version might actually be useful. I put a 256gb micro sd card in, and all photos and videos are now recording directly to the card. Face recognition works great and is fast. No more waiting for apps to launch. The most frustrating thing I see is the message 'tap here to use your Samsung Account '

I never want to use my Samsung Account. And, unlike previous phones, I can't seem to turn that notification off. The option is greyed out.

Other than that one niggling detail, this might be the best phone I've ever had

Benefits of S10e compared to S8:

-Better design. Punch-hole allows for all-screen display, while the flat screen might mean less accidental touches if you don’t like it curved.

-Better rear camera and selfies. You get better photos (especially in low light) and the option of ultra-wide photos with the S10e and the selfie camera has been upgraded.

-Better software. The S8 is in its last year of updates and pie was the last major software update. With the S10e you get Pie and will have Android Q as well as R, plus 3 years of security updates until 2021-22.

-New cool features such as Wireless PowerShare.

-Minor charging speed improvements

Downsides/things that stay the same:

-The battery life is the same as on the S8.

-The display has a slightly lower resolution (although they are both FHD at default)

-If you like the curved screen and look of slim bezels then the S10e has a flat display and all-screen design.

Hope that helps :)

I'll throw my money if Samsung make larger model flat screen. Tired of curve lol

Are you talking about flagships? If not, the A80 seems decent. You might want to closely observe the launch of the A90 and future high end Galaxy A devices for good flat screen Samsung devices

I briefly had the S8 but ditched it within the return period so I can't really speak to it. I now have the S10e and am thrilled with it...

One shining feature for me is the print reader on the power button. I absolutely loved it there when I had Sony Xperia Compact phone and was happy to see the 10e has it there as well.

The 10e screen is fine and the phone is snappy and responsive. Not a single complaint with my 10e...

The location of the fingerprint scanner is one huge reason why I will buy the S10e. I'm not ready for the in-display fingerprint scanner tech - I feel like it can be improved. Plus I want to try out this new FPS location (or relatively unexplored, as only a few devices have had this in the past).

Glad to hear you are loving the S10e! How are you finding the camera? I hear (and see) that the S10 line takes great photos.

I am very happy with the S10e.. I have a friend with the S10 and she hates the print reader on it. I've seen so many complaints on it I am even happier I went with the 10e..

Photos are great. I came from the iPhone XS and they are better than the photos on it. I had a Pixel 3 last year and I think the S10e takes better photos than it. I am no photo / image expert so take my camera comments with a grain of salt..

Thank you so much for letting me know how you feel about the camera and fingerprint scanner! The camera sounds great! I'm excited to buy the S10e!
