Does anyone know what the difference is between the SM-G950U, which is what I have, and the SM-950U1? I tried posting a message about this in the Samsung+ community app but could not get my message to post.

Both are USA Snapdragon variants
U - Carrier locked
U1 - Carrier unlocked

So if U1 is carrier unlocked, then just curious as to why only that model is currently eligible for the Pie beta?

I'm not sure as everything I've looked up doesn't say why. At a guess since the beta pie is not carrier branded the carrier's may be waiting for a stable release.

Carriers usually add their own little tweaks to update and test it for a while before release, so they can be behind the unlocked phones...
