When my samsung s9+ fully runs out of power for some reason it comes up with the water damage logo when any cable is connected to charge it.

The wireless still works to charge.

As soon as it reaches 1% it will then charge with any of the cables I have been using?

Why might this be ? As if it was water damaged it would not charge with a cable at all right ?? It's only when its completely dead.

You are not supposed to run it dead like that, it messes up the battery. Always charge at least 15 percent or so if you choose to run it that low.

You referring to mositure warning alert ?

Welcome to Android Central! I'd guess it has something to do with being able to overcome the battery protection circuit -- perhaps the contact in the USB port that's responsible for this got damaged at some point. Maybe @Rukbat can weigh in on this?

Reaches 1%? You're allowing it to discharge to less than 1%? You probably need a new battery. (Yes, I know it's a fairly new phone. You can totally destroy a lithium battery in a month doing what you're doing.)

Does it state water damage or is it the water exposure to the charging port which is the same as when someone tries to charge it with a wet port?

Thanks for all the answers. Sometimes if I am out let's say, I dont have a choice to " let my battery run down " or not . Its sometimes unavoidable.

And it's a warning sign of a water droplet and a cross through it with the charger cable

It's not a water damage indication; assuming it's not moisture in the charging port something is false triggering it. Try gently cleaning the port to see if that helps. Avoid letting it drain that far. I would get a portable charger if that's practical for you.

That's your moisture alert , make sure your phone charging port is clean , when that happens you'll have to revert to wireless charging .
