S9 freaked out on me

Generally, I am a happy S9 owner. My first Samsung and I like the premium nature of it. However, this weekend saw something I've never had a phone do.

I turned the phone off for about 30 minutes cause I didn't want any disturbance for a bit. When I turned it back on, BT connected to my car and I went to make a call and it froze. Touch screen wouldn't register, power button did nothing and after about 10 minutes it finally restarted on its own. This happened 4 more times. Phone was unusable for about 45 minutes. Which sucked cause I needed GPS to get home.

Anyway it's working ok now but I'm scared to restart it. My question is what do you think it was? A virus? An app? Do I need to call Samsung about a new phone?

Really annoyed that an $800 phone had this issue at a terrible time

What version of software are you running (and on what carrier)?

T-Mobile recently froze an update because it was causing issues like the one you're seeing. Unfortunately, I already received the update on the one GS9 in my house (thankfully, without issues), but the new GS9+ I picked up yesterday is stuck on the previous update for this reason.

Regardless, I hope they fix it soon!

I'm on the March security patch so I don't know if that's the issue.

one thing I forgot to mention was most of my settings went back to default. ringtones, keyboard settings, I was signed out of a lot of my apps. really weird
