S9 - notification problems

I have just gone from the S6 to the S9 Plus. I am finding that my notifications are not coming through. Example 1. When somebody sends me a text message the notifications used to show up on the lock screen and would be there for at least 5 to 10 seconds before disappearing. This does not happen anymore. And this is for WhatsApp. I used to get a noise notification for messages. Sometimes I do sometimes I don't. And I also don't get notifications on the lock screen for this either. I have tried everything, I have Googled and YouTube every option. I have reset my phone and my notifications are on. I am over this S9. I have read other forums where many people are having the same problem. And yes I've done all the updates. Uninstalled programs reinstalled programs. Reset the phone. Can anybody give me a solution?

Open WhatsApp and click on the three dotted line on the upper right-hand corner

Tap on notification settings

Make sure use high priority notification is turned on

You can switch on popup notification as an alternative solution to not miss any important messages which will ensure it is displayed even when the display is turned off

If you can give little more details on the lock screen, is AOD on or tap to show ?
For the notifications have you long press each app you having a problem and app info see if notifications are on for them ?

The AOD is always on. And yes I've checked every app and all notifications are on as I need them to be. I get my son to send me messages to test. Most sound notifications don't work then one might. Even when I go into message notifications and choose the sound type. Normally you can hear each one as an example but sometimes I get nothing. Then now I try and can hear them. It's like something in my phone is not working
