S9 vs pixel 2 software experience

I know there probably have been a million debates about which 1 is better. I currently have a ipx and pixel 2 that I just got yesterday . The only thing I really like about the pixel 2 is the fact that I don't have to worry about performance later down the line and the size of the phone (I don't like big phones). My dilemma is Verizon is offering a BOGO for the s9. But the last time I had a galaxy phone I swear I'd never buy another the S7 edge was so laggy after 6 months it was unusable. People say the Samsung lag is a thing of the past but how true is that ?

That's a hard question to answer, you'll have people here say no, you'll have people here that say yes. You'll have people in the real world say no, some who say yes. It all depends upon that user, the real question is do you want to spend 800.00+ to find out

Lol I guess your right I definitely don't want to Shell out that kinda cash to find out later down the line Samsung is still singing the same tune I'd be pissed...

I can tell you that the S8, two that I had personal experience with, started to lag relatively quickly (in about a month or a little more).

Unless you're adding a line, you can't get the BOGOF so maybe that'll help some.

Personally, when my phone gets laggy, I find that a factory reset is helpful to get performance back to where it should be. That's true of the phones that I've had, and they haven't all been Samsung Galaxy phones by any means.

I've debated this several times myself over the last few weeks. I've had several Samsung phones and for awhile Samsung was Android to me. The S9 hardware was really tempting to a point. I had to go to a store and play with both multiple times and I just finally came to the realization that for years I have fought with Samsung's software and I just didn't want to do it anymore. Factory resets every couple months to get speed and battery life back, then a couple hours to disable and tweak settings because I never used the majority of their "features" and probably never will. So I went all in on the pixel 2 and I am liking it more each day. I've never gotten through a day on a Samsung phone and I've done it every day since getting my Pixel 2 five days ago. That's not to say Samsung doesn't make a good device, it's just not for me anymore. The pixel 2 may not have all the bells and whistles but it just feels more refined.

The S9 still has 4GB of RAM, so I'm inclined to say it will start to lag. The S9+ with 6GB is (fingers-crossed) much less likely to lag. One prominent reviewer did a 6-month review of the Note 8 (which has 6GB of RAM) and said it did not slow down in the "typical" Samsung fashion.

I’ve seen some Note 8’s at the Samsung store (displays) that were laggy and jerky (comparatively speaking). Android is getting much better but I’m not sold that Samsung’s software is keeping up with the Joneses.

I have a note 8 since Oct zero issues or lags....and I just brought the S9+ 128gb....will give my inputs soon on the s9+....my Note 8 still flies

I think lag also has to do with how one uses a phone. If you jam as much **** as you possibly can on the device it's probably going to slow down just like a computer does when jam as much crap as you can on it. Phones need to be treated as computers where you do routine maintenance on them to keep them running smooth.

Adding deleting adding deleting adding deleting takes a toll on all software which in turn cause strain on the hardware. Not to mention that once a month or so you get an update that adds more information for the hardware to process.

Yeah. I agree with above. I've seen those stories of Samsung lag that the phones become unusable and I have never seen it happen on any of MY devices. But my brother's old S3 has that happen. It still alive now and I tried using it for Wordscape and the freaking thing stutters at that. Conversely, I have a Galaxy V single core with 512mb RAM that works fine with Wordscape. So I guess the abuse just got to the S3, since the Galaxy V was never really used much as it was just acquired as a freebie when I got a tablet years back. The Galaxy V is SLOW, but slow is different from laggy. The S3 actually does lag. The Galaxy V is just a year younger than the S3, so it's not component age.

Agreed. Also people...RESTART your phones daily! It works wonders.
