I've been to several Verizon stores and Best Buy and there are no V30s on display.

Do you think they are sabotaging V30 and pushing the other 3 big phones?

Definitely. There's a massive multi-corporation conspiracy to destroy LG. Wal-Mart, Target, and Toys R Us are in on it too. Didn't you read the article in Newsweek?

LG aren't a bad company. They are just terrible at marketing their excellent products. They'll never match the likes of Apple or Samsung in that department but they can still do a hell of a lot better. 1 - when they announce a phone, set a concrete release day instead of "here's our amazing new phone coming....well sometime, when we get around to it" and take advantage of customers excitement for the phone before they get bored waiting and get swayed by another released before it

2- make sure stores and carriers are actually promoting it so potential buyers can see it and get their hands on it.

There's other companies out their like Huawei, Xiaomi, Google, Sony all doing ok behind Samsung and Apple so LG need to pull their finger out or risk being swallowed up by all those when people are looking for a phone

Aren't display phones taken from stock that would otherwise be sold? (except for cases where dummy devices are used)

If stock levels are low and they sell what they have right away without a display phone, why would a store put out a device that could get them a good sale?

I suspect that when stock improves you will see display phones. Right now, its a waste of a good phone that will sell anyway.

I think it primarily depends on demand and also the personal biases of the managers and store owners, etc. Who knows - perhaps it's also based on the commission sales reps get from pushing different devices over other brands.

my local AT&T corporate store didn't have one on display either the corporate store a town over did though so I was able to play with it yesterday. it feels really small and light compared to my Note 8.

My local AT&T store didn't have the demo unit/station set up on day one but they had a demo unit. Guy got it out from the back and let me play around with it. Which was nice to feel in the hand without the huge security and wire stuff tethered to it. Felt great to hold in the hand.

Sabotage no, stupidity yes.
There may be good reasons, but POOR marketing. They should of had enough phones available a month ago a week after they announced.
I agree that it IS LG's fault since all suppliers are doing the same cr**.

Lateck,

I have no doubt Verizon does not care, as they paid a hefty premium to Google to be the only exclusive carrier of the Pixels for 2 years now.

And Google has tremendous leverage to get what they want. So here comes LG launching the V30 phone the day after the Pixel announcement. This comes a few weeks after a $2.7 billion partnership between LG and Apple, that will have LG make the OLED screens for the iphones - something Apple desperately needed as they were out of capacity.

So I really thing LG's big partnership with Apple has not gone over well with Google, particularly since LGs flagship is trying to steal the thunder from Google launches.

Also, I believe Verizon was the only carrier to not even bother with a "coming soon" or other teasers on their webpage or press release after its announcement, which is standard for just about every phone. Verizon only acknowledged the phone the day it was available for sale.

And then they put the highest price tag of anyone at $840 and only offered 1 color (silver).

This makes complete sense, but you also have to consider the human element and some employee tech fan just opening one up right away to play with one... not to mention some managers wanting them to get familiar with it in order to support it. If I had to bet, it probably all depends on how the manager of a store manages and their own strategy for deployment, unless some sort of company wide policy.

I would say it's because LG doesn't invest or put in the effort. While most manufacturers ship dummy phones to stores at no cost, stores must pay for the live demos, exception being Samsung would show up with a rep and set up new live displays in our store at no cost.

Most flagship phones never got a live demo in our stores because the owners didn't want the cost of buying them.

I think that LG is just so far under the radar for most people that the carriers promote the big names, mainly Apple and Samsung. Interestingly enough, the big corporate Verizon store here in SF was the only store who actually had a working demo on display that I have found.

Is it the Newsweek that's out now? I'd def like to read about it
