Safe 3rd party charging equipment

There's some confusing info on the internet about all of this ...I'm more concerned with long term issues. I understand that some combinations will allow the phone to charge normally but im more concerned about long term battery degradation so that's why I think I'm going to use genuine HTC 10 cables only. I still think that mixing cables and chargers from 3rd party vendors degraded my phones M8s battery prematurely..maybe that's paranoia but I'm going to play it safe.
As for what I meant as confusing information, apparently you shouldn't use the HTC 10 cables to charge other devices as HTC have used a special implementation of the USB C specification. Using HTC 10 cable to charge say a Motorola phone could damage the cable and / or phone. Ahhh I long for the simple days of USB before the 'C' revision.

It's paranoia! :-) Otherwise, these successful 3rd party retailers would be out of business. I just made sure to double check all of the specs before purchasing. We don't know if HTC is actually making their own cables and chargers or if they're just slapping their name on another company's product.

What i have done with my 10 is to get several Micro USB to C adapters so i can keep using my existing cables and chargers.
IF all you are trying to do is charge your device any 1 to 2 amp charger will work with the supplied HTC USB C data cable.
IF your trying to rapid charge the device use the supplied HTC wall plug and HTC USB C data cable.
When buying USB C data cables try to make sure they ahve the 56K (Originally had 54K in there but i believe its 56K) ohm resister in them. Do a quick google search and you will see a google engineer discussing it and doing a great job explaining it.
Remember that heat is extremely bad on LiIon batteries. Rapid charging cause heat. So me personally to prolong the life of my phone i only do normal charging on a daily basis and use the rapid charging only when absolutely necessary.
Also leaving your phone normal charging over night is fine. The phone is smart, it knows when its getting full and will reduce the amount of current going into the phone.
Now if your phone has a glitch and has an application that is stuck running and the CPU is running at full clock speed your device will run hot all night. So keep an eye on it.
Example, Google Photos (i think) had an Oct. 12 update that caused my S7 Edge to run hot and sluggish, it was finally fix Oct 19. But thats a prime example of an app that can cause the phone to run hot and if your charging it then that adds to the problem.

I highly recommend Choetech chargers from Amazon. I have a spare wall charger that I use and a car charger. No issues.

I have two 5 port aukey power banks. They are just 2A/port banks. Not QC 2 or 3. I use a 6' USB A to USB C cable I got from amazon. All cables I bought were confirmed to USB C spec from the Google engineer, prior to purchase. I also have a set of those Micro USB to USB C adapters, which have also been verified as USB C compliant. I use one at work with an old cable from an LG G2, plugged into an aukey power bank at work.

As long as the cable or adapter is USB C spec compliant, you'll be fine.
