Safe mode?

Does anyone know what safe mode means and how to make it go away? My daughters phone keeps saying its in safe mode and I cant for the life of me figure out why. Thanks.

Mine pops up every now and then also. Usually shutting down phone, removing battery, then restarting takes care of it. There has been a couple times i just wiped and restored my nandroid backup and it went away.

I think the most common reason is an app gone wonky .

it happens because you've accidentally pressed the lock button (found on right side of the phone) while your phone was turning on. to exit safe mode easiest way is to shut doen the phone normally and then remove the battery, then restart the phone. this happens often when I try and take my otter box on and off my Galaxy3... hope this helps!
