I got an email from an HTC rep saying to put my Thunderbolt into Safe Mode to prevent frequent rebooting.

Has anyone done this?

Does it work?

What does it prevent the phone from doing?

Not sure what the key sequence is to get there. I accidentally did it once when booting up.
Even if it worked, about all you could do is make calls and take calls. Might as well get a dumb phone.

Definatly wont do that then, but here is the key sequence they sent me incase someone needs it for something one day.

"Directions for placing device in Safe Mode:

- Power off the phone
- Power on the phone
- When the HTC Quietly Brilliant screen appears, press and hold the volume down button until the phone boots up. When it boots it should be in safe mode.

NOTE: Resetting the device will take the device out of Safe Mode - if you do not see any indicator in the bottom left of the screen saying Safe Mode or Safe Boot, then please place the device back in Safe Mode."

always good to know just in case
thanks!

You are wrong about safe mode. My thunderbolt runs perfectly in Safe Mode. The only thing it seems to do is turn off all aftermarket apps at start up. You can still access them and run them!
For me i couldn't get my wifi to work after the ice cream update... i ran it in safe mode at it works great now. I haven't figured out which app was messing with the wifi yet but i've rebooted now and the wifi still works! SO glad my wifi works again.
