Safe to use an SIII charger for a classic iPod?

I'm going travelling and don't want to have to buy/carry any more stuff than I need to, so was wondering if it was safe to use my Samsung SIII wall charger (just the one it came with) for my Classic iPod, just by using the iPod USB cable? I'm nervous to try in case I blow it up or something.
It would also be connected to a south african plug adapter, 220-240v.

I would compare the amps on each charger for the S3 and the Apple. If they are the same, I don't see any reason to worry.
