Safe way to revert back to Gmnail 2.3.6 ?

I really dislike the new ICS Gmail app, and wonder if there is a safe way to revert back to the 2.3.6 version or Gingerbread version?

None that i know of, maybe uninstall the updates?
Or you could always access your Gmail through the stock email app.

I would say just uninstall the update to gmail.

I had to do this with youtube, because youtube will not play when updated to ICS version. If you click on uninstall, it will not completely uninstall the APP, just uninstall the update, since Gmail is a Google brand, just like Youtube.

Unfortunately, uninstalling the updates only took it back to 4.0.4... Not all the way back to 2.3.6 or something like that...
