It started several weeks ago. My Optimus V phone woke me up early one morning. It was cycling on and off . The Android logo would appear and disappear. At each cycle the phone would make a cracking sound.

Sent it to LG Electronics for repair (cost $10 shipping) . They sent it back. I plugged in the phone to the charger and pressed the home key expecting the phone to work. Nothing. I pressed the power key. The LG logo appeared, then a battery icon appeared. A red band would flash then a green band on the battery image on the screen. Pressed the home button, no response.

Sent phone to LG again (another $10). Just received it today. Same experience as above. Very frustrating. Someone on this forum said they pressed the power key, the audio down key and the home key to reboot their phone. So I did that. The phone responded!!

Had to reactivate the phone by calling Virgin. So far they have been able to get the phone to make phone calls but it cannot access the internet. I was transferred to Virgin technical support. They cannot seem to fix it so I have been told my problem has been escalated. I am supposed to receive a response by Monday.

Who else has had problems like this?

I wasnt aware LG repaired our device. New one to me. I assume you were past your warranty period and that is why it costed. You would think they had better quality control during a repair than that. That's lousy service. That phone should have returned the first time working.

Oh I have. They will never contact you. I've had this experience multiple times. Kind of sounds like lg flashed the optimus s firmware... I ended up fixing it myself but I don't remember how

Hmm. I own an Optimus V that's about 2 years old and I haven't had this issue. Maybe a QC issue? Sorry for your problem.

Well, the SAGA ends. I called Virgin Mobile because the phone was unable to surf the web. Virgin made an executive decision. They sent me a replacement phone (why didn't LG do that??) The new phone works well.
