same LTE radio as TB, Charge, Revolution?

One of the things that was discussed earlier in the rumor mills was that Motorola went back to the drawing board and was developing their own LTE radio for the Bionic because of the issues with the current LTE radio which is on the Charge, Revolution and Thunderbolt. (Or maybe it had something to do with the processor). In any case, is there any info on whether they in fact did develop their own LTE radio. I trust that they would have done their homework to make sure that it worked.
If there is one thing that Motorola does right is they have great reception (i.e. radios). If they waited this long because of developing a better LTE radio, it could be the thing that pushes me over to the Bionic fan status again.
Sorry if this has already been discussed.

My understanding was this was Moto's plan all along. I could be wrong, but I thought they always made their own antennas. Though I heard that it was this reasoning behind the delay, but I think there was something else. I think they felt the Etna Bionic wasn't up to par and wanted a more business oriented Bionic which was the Targa. More ram, webtop capabilities and more executive form factor. IMO there was no delay. The Targa was slated for an August/Sept release.

The grim reality is, the Etna Bionic was cancelled. But instead of cancelled they said it was delayed and continue development of the Targa Bionic for their slated release.

YES...Moto developed their own LTE radio and this was the delay cause (or some of it). I would expect a great radio/connection with this Moto phone.

I am pretty sure that they have their own radios. Motorola's phones usually have amazing reception anyways.

Samsung Charge uses VIA Telecom’s CPB7.1 (3G and 1x voice) and Samsung CMC220 (LTE)
LG Revolution uses Qualcomm MSM8655 (3G and 1x voice) and LG L2000 (LTE)
HTC Thunderbolt uses Qualcomm MSM8655 (3g and 1x voice) and Qualcomm MDM9600 (LTE and 1x voice)

Lots of differences in the radios so far and Thunderbolt is the only one so far that can do simultaneous voice and 3G data. All can do simultaneous voice and 4G. Until the Bionic hits the street and some one takes it apart it's hard to talk about it's radios. There has been very few leaks about that compared to leaks about other specs.

If they made their own radio chip and managed to "crack the code" of LTE battery life improvement, then kudos to you guys for waiting on the Bionic. I went ahead and got the D3, which I am very happy with, because I figured that the Bionic would (a) be $300 (which it is) and (b) have bad battery life on LTE like all of the other LTE phones before it. Still, my mom came to town the other day and had her new Thunderbolt with her. That LTE data rate was crazy fast and made me a little jealous (downloaded a 5 MB app in about 3 seconds in the middle of Paul Brown Stadium).

i had the thunderbolt and returned it the next day because of the horrible radio. I got no 4G and very poor 3G.

Whatever they went with, it can't be worse than the Thunderbolt. I mean the bolt isn't totally awful in terms of radio reception...but like the second I step inside I lose 4G in quite a few places.

I would check your battery door and it's contacts. Mine will hold 4G inside even in basements.

I definitely get better 4G reception indoors sometimes than 3G reception on my Thunderbolt. Isn't the spectrum Verizon uses for their LTE network 700mhz which is really good for indoor penetration?

You can't compare ANY HTC battery life to a Moto phone, 3g or 4g. Nobody knows how to consistently destroy a battery in record time like HTC. Even if you turn off all the functions that you buy an Android phone for, it still sucks. I really don't understand why people buy them and then complain about the battery life. Based on every phone they ever made, what were you expecting?
