I read this on the Google Nexus S Review this morning.

"The phone does not fail to please. It is significantly faster than the Nexus One (and most current generation phones), has a high-end AMOLED 400 x 800 resolution screen that is second only to the iPhone 4, and is NFC-enabled. Like all Android phones it is dead simple to set up, assuming you use Gmail, Google Calendar, Google contacts, etc. But it?s Google?s various apps, some of which are unavailable for the iPhone, that make it the best phone on the market today."

I love Android and like Apple but trying to be as unbiased as I could possibly be, there is absolutely no WAY that the Iphone screen looks better than the Galaxy S phones. The Vibrant's screen is so SO SO much better looking than the dull Iphone 4 screen. You dont have to be blind to see this! Am I the only one that thinks this!?

I am kind of biased, since im on the development team for the molecules that go into the SAMOLEDs but i agree, the higher PPI is a cute for sharper characters but its not so much sharper that im amazed.

Colors and the contrast on the OLED screens make it so pleasant to look at and its great to look at pictures , watch movies, and i can still read text and my eyes dont bleed from not having the "retna" resolution.

soon they will have SAMOLED sporting much higher PPI to match or surpass that of the "retna" screen once that is in place what will they brag about. All things being equal OLEDs have it all over IPS LCDs("Retna")

The iPhone4 is only "better" in sharpness because images and text are sharper due to the higher resolution, 960x640. The highest resolution on a Samsung device is 800x480, what most other Android phones are, except the Moto Droids which are a bit higher in res, but not that of the iPhone4. Personally, it's not very fuzzy to me, perfectly fine for reading small text.

Other than that, SAMOLED beats it in contrast, viewing angle, and color saturation. But those are just through MY eyes.

The iPhone 4's Retina Display has the highest resolution out there (for a phone), but SAMOLEDs are still a sight to behold too. While the iPhone 4's text and images (ones that aren't flash :P) looks an itty bitty bit sharper, the screen is only 3.5 inches. You've got the spacious 4 inches of the Nexus S, which is slightly less resolution but you can fit more on a given screen. I'd say given the trade off, they're equal. But on numbers alone, iPhone wins.

I don't think so.. I mean from a visual standpoint the retina display doesn't provide the color and richness in depth you get with the (S)AMOLED displays, flat out. Text re-flow is one of the reasons i adore my Android browser, if the text is that damn small, pinch to zoom it and let it reflow. The difference in sharpness due to the resolution difference isn't nearly enough of a pro to say the iPhone4 wins in this. Who cares if you can sharply read smaller text, I'd rather have vivid images and beautiful color saturation for games/movies/flash. (S)AMOLED wins!

retina wins.......samoled needs better density.......fin.

fixed.. vowels people.. vowels.. this isn't ebonics.

I have had both, I phone kills it, but I am calling it like I see it.

honestly, i have an epic, and it kills me to say this but the iphone looks to me to have a more sharp and clean screen then the epic. but not for long, not for long...

find a really nice HD picture, but that picture on both phones and put them side by side, the sharpness will not cover the differnce of the way the pictures pop.

I'm not saying iphone screen isnt a great screen just toe to toe when comparing images its no contest and whenever i do this test i have not had one person say, yeah the iphone screen is nicer... but whatever like i said, soon samsung will produce a screen with a higher PPI. and this wont even be a discussion

As others have pointed out, the iPhone's screen is technically of a higher resolution. The funny part is Steve Jobs himself stated that it's of a higher resolution than the human eye can even distinguish between at that screen size. Kinda defeats your own argument...

Either way, when it comes to color saturation, ESPECIALLY on colors like true black, it's no contest like DroidXcon said. sAMOLED blows Retina out of the water in that aspect, hands down. Colors on the sAMOLED screen are nothing short of absolutely brilliant. I was very skeptical of Samsung's claims when this was first announced, but I am completely sold on it now.

Biology plays a role, being pre med, if your occulars are good, then perception is crap.

no offense......but color is the only debatable sense.....density, we all precieve the same ; )
