Samsung anti theft feature

My s5 got stolen recentlyrecently so I upgraded to the s7. Samsung did a great job of securing the the new sim card in the s7 so it cannot be removed without premeditation (having the key) that means thiefs cannot make your phone untraceable as soon as they grab it... unless they turn off the power.

I believe the security OPTION that you need your fingerprint to turn off or restart your phone would be a fantastic anti theft feature, so if you have your phone stolen you can yrack it right away with a nearby device.

By key do you mean paperclip?

Also I'm not sure if you noticed this yet but one major security flaw on the s7 is that you can pull down the notification panel while on lock screen and put the phone on airplane mode... Huge security issue

Yes. This is a pretty horrible oversight, IMHO. It defeats the point of some of the other security options. I wish icons could just be removed from the shade completely. I never use airplane mode. I just turn my phone off. There's others, too, that are useless, but if the phone is secured then the shade should be disabled on lock.

Good point about being able to disable things from the lock screen that would result in making it harder to track the phone!
Thankfully you can remove things from those quick settings. I removed airplane mode, data toggle and location. That should help.

I did not see that option. I see I can move the icons around, no option to remove them. At least on the AT&T S7.

yeah me neither...? how did you remove the items?

I don't think they were removed. Not everyone realizes the shade can be pulled down further. It's most likely they just got moved lower in the menu.

oops. yes you are correct all I did was move them below the line so pulling the shade down further they are exposed again.

The phone already has the option to require a PIN or password after reboot. And Marshmallow includes a feature that won't let you do a factory reset without logging into your Google account.

Thats after the reboot, I want the feature for the ise of anti theft so your phone isn't turned off right away. If you're phone gets turned off afeter being stolen thats it gg wp, about it needing a paperclip that still requires premeditation or knowledge about the phone.

I should definitely have the ability to take out security faults such as airplanr mode from the drop down menu

I think it's daft that someone could access airplane mode without the phone being unlocked, sorta makes find my phone useless. Also the power off. Does anyone actually think about these things.

Some people do (think about these things). There's an Xposed module I have on my G3 that disables the power menu while the screen is locked. Of course, all of these thing are only of limited use. On the G3, all you need to do is pull the battery to turn the phone off. On the S7 it's not quite that easy, but you can still let the battery run down.

As long as the phone requires a password / pin on reboot, I'm not too worried about that. It would be nice to require a password or fingerprint to boot into recovery, though.

Bump, I need innovation... or atleast let me root my phone so i dont have to wait for samsung devs to fix their decisions.

What are you guys talking about? My notification bar doesn't get pulled down in the lockscreen. Doesn't work.

Edit: Oh yeah I forgot. I have Cerberus. It blocks status bar and power button access if lockscreen is active.
