Once it drops off they can do another authorization, basically the cycle repeats until they ship when they do an actual charge. I think I posted in one of the threads with a link to target FAQ on how pre-order/authorization works on target and it's similar across all retailers.

This is also the time when few people say their orders magically got cancelled etc, the main reason for that most likely is the reauthorization probably didn't go thru and the order systems automatically cancelled the order.

That's kinda weird. Seems like all the repeated authorizations could mimic fraudulent behavior. I may need to call my bank tomorrow and let em know Samsung is playing games with my credit card but it's OK. As long as they play with $500 or less.

Mine has been on hold since I pre-ordered and surprisingly my back actaully refers to it as a temp hold.

When will I be charged for a pre-order?

When you place a pre-order, Target will send an authorization hold request to your card issuer. The authorization hold is not an actual charge and will eventually expire and drop off the account based upon the time frame set by your card-issuing bank. If the authorization hold expires before the item’s release date or before the order is ready to be shipped, the authorization will automatically renew. If any attempt to renew the authorization fails, the order will automatically be cancelled. You won’t be charged for your order until it ships.


Most retailer pre order works like this and is pretty standard. Read the last couple of sentences about authorization renewal.

I see you quoted before I edited - I had no issue with "Babe" - I try to be very careful with my posts due to the sensitive nature of everything in the world today. I would love to go back to the 50s

I have a 2012 GT. I want a newer one like 2017 to 19 GT but need to save more money up. Hopefully at my business I can make more money this coming season. I just want the base model GT to save money. As long as it has auto tranny. I can just slap seat covers over the cloth. The premium is a waste of money for faux leather. I just want the engine in it. I don't need heated seats and crap down here.
