Samsung Edge S7 was getting hot, now the battery is so swollen, it cracked the front and back??

is this a common issue? sprint says just to bring it in for repair,... they arent got to be able to repair this! also they say if the screen is cracked it wont be covered under warranty??? but the swelling cracked the screen AND the back! I have pics too ... also noticed the cover is separating now its about 1/8th -1/4 inch separated it wont turn on of course wont charge just displays the battery icon and a pink line down the center ... it was getting hot when charging but this happened just sitting on the desk

Welcome to the forums. I would STRONGLY suggest you put the phone in a strong (not cardboard) box and get it to the Sprint facility as soon as possible! And no, that is not a common issue.
