Welcome to Android Central forums. A quick Google brought up this solution, and it appears there are several more online at YouTube.com.

To address scratches on your phone's glass back, you can try gentle polishing with cerium oxide-based glass polish, toothpaste, or magic erasers, but be cautious as these methods can be abrasive and may remove the oleophobic coating. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Here's a breakdown of methods and considerations:
Methods: [5, 6]

  • Glass Polish: [5, 6]
    • Use a glass polish kit (often containing cerium oxide) designed for car windows or watch cases. [5, 6]
    • Apply the polish to a soft cloth or polishing pad and gently rub the scratched area in circular motions. [6]
    • Wipe away any excess polish with a clean, dry cloth. [6]
  • Toothpaste: [1, 4]
    • Apply a small amount of toothpaste (non-gel) to a soft cloth. [1, 4, 7]
    • Gently rub the scratched area in circular motions. [1, 4]
    • Wipe away any excess toothpaste with a clean, damp cloth. [1, 4]
  • Magic Eraser: [4]
    • Wet the magic eraser sponge slightly. [4]
    • Gently rub the scratched area. [4]
    • Be cautious as magic erasers can be abrasive. [4]
  • Baking Soda: [8]
    • Mix two parts baking soda with one part water to form a paste. [8]
    • Apply the paste to a soft cloth and gently rub in a circular motion. [8]
    • Wipe away any excess paste with a clean, damp cloth. [8]
  • Car Scratch Remover Kits: [9]
    • Some car scratch remover kits, like Glisten, can be used to fill in scratches and buff out the surface. [9]
    • Follow the instructions provided with the kit. [9]
Important Considerations: [4]
  • Be Gentle: Avoid applying too much pressure when rubbing the scratched area, as this can damage the glass. [4]
  • Test in an Inconspicuous Area: Before applying any method to the entire scratched area, test it on a small, less visible area first. [4]
  • Consider the Depth of the Scratch: Deep scratches may not be completely removable with these methods. [4]
  • Oleophobic Coating: Be aware that using abrasive methods can remove the oleophobic coating, which makes the glass more prone to smudges and fingerprints. [10]
  • Professional Repair: If the scratches are very deep or extensive, consider seeking professional repair. [4]
