Samsung Galaxy 2 10.1 won't charge when on

Hey everyone. I have had my teblet since early May with no issues until about a week ago. My tablet will not charge when it is on . It will maintain its normal charge but the icon at the bottom has an X across the lightning bolt in the battery.when turned off it charges perfectly fine . I have tried restarting it with no luck. Any advise would be greatly appreciated ! Thnk you.
