Just a quick note, I'm not in the US currently, hence why I got to try out some region-specific devices. This one is the Galaxy A8, and my, what a looker it is.

Here are my impressions.

1) It's very pretty. It's pretty darn good looking for a midranger.
2) It's thin. Very thin. Perhaps thinner than what I'd personally prefer.
3) It's also pretty darn light. It's also big. BIG
4) There's nothing much to say about the screen. It's a 1080p Super AMOLED panel, and as you'd expect, it's gorgeous. AMOLED is still not my fav display tech due to oversaturation, but the A8 doesn't oversaturate as much.
5) Performance is alright. Pretty snappy and apps load quickly.
6) Camera is actually pretty capable, but it seems to lack OIS, as one test shot of my personal phone looks a little blurry.
7) That camera doesn't stick out as much as the S6, despite being thinner.
8) It's pricey for a midranger. In the country where I tested the phone, it's $480.

Shots are below. They're taken by my G4.

Seems like a parts bin Note 3. I sold a white one.The screen anyway.

I don't know if it's coming to the UK. I will check the specs later.

A 1080p screen is good enough for me, but it would need a good price, and the UK would overcharge for it as well.

If I get a Moto X S or Play, I was considering a Galaxy A5 to replace the 2013 Moto G as a backup, when I have money / when I rob my next bank.

The 720p A5 5" with 2gb ram is £299 officially, 240ish online, so nearly 50% over a new Moto G. I just like their screens.

I will keep a look out for that, thanks, but I think it's going to be in Moto X Style territory.
